Third Person Narrative: Mission 6195

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sophia woke up to the sound of her alarm ringing in her earphones, and quickly turned the alarm off. It was precisely 5:45. She quietly sat up, and looked at her roommates. They were just waking up, too. Right on time, she thought, relieved. They looked at each other, silently exchanging meaningful looks. Then they simultaneously crept out of their blankets, climbed down from their beds, and got to work.
As they began their mission, Sophia thought about the steps they had to go through for today…
***
Sophia struggled to open her eyes, and looked at her clock. It was 8:15.
Her eyes flew open.
She jumped out of bed, shook her roommates awake, flew into the bathroom, washed her face and brushed her teeth and brushed her hair in exactly 30 seconds, grabbed a shirt and pants and put them on without looking at them, threw her books in her bag, slung the bag over her shoulders, stuffed her feet into someone’s shoes, and raced out the door with her roommates close behind her.
The elevator was just closing, about to go down. She threw herself between the double doors, and managed to open the elevator. Sophia and her roommates sighed in relief, and looked at each other.
One of her roommates, JY, was wearing Sophia’s red Nike sneaker on one foot and her white indoor slipper on the other. Her hair had a comb stuck in it, and she was wearing a pink blouse with the buttons buttoned wrong with green shorts.
Her other roommate, SJ, was even worse. She was wearing her black hoodie inside out, and underneath were JY’s orange ski pants. Her bare feet peeked out from below.
They looked around the elevator. Everyone else looked similar to them.
They all looked at each other’s haggard faces, and sighed again, this time in despair. They had been living at GLPS for only a week, and they were already close to losing their minds. The hectic schedule of homework, classes, studying, homework, and more homework was too much for them. Most of them couldn't get even 3 hours of sleep every night, because of all the research papers and presentations and speeches and essays to do.
The elevator door opened. They trudged out into the white snow, starting another tiring day.
Sophia sighed in relief when eighth period was over. At least there was dinner to look forward to. She climbed the seemingly endless hill, forcing her numb legs to keep on walking. The dormitory was the main prison, but they gave decent food.
Time flew by as she got into the overflowing elevator, got off the elevator, walked into her room, threw off her bag, silently climbed the stairs to the cafeteria, and ate dinner with her roommates.
When they arrived at their rooms after dinner, Sophia, JY, and SJ looked at each other. They knew that all three of them were thinking the same thing. At the same time, they said: “Let’s escape.”
This is when their frantic planning began. They spent all of compulsory study time, snack time, and the whole night carefully planning every step of their escape. It was only well after midnight that they were done and satisfied with their final plan.
The first step would be to subdue the PAs, also known as Prison Assistants. They were slightly less powerful than the TAs(Trainer Assistants), but they slept in the room next to the students, so they were a main danger factor, too.
They knew that all the PAs liked coffee. So they decided to put a steaming hot mug of coffee with ground sleeping pills hidden inside right in front of their rooms. There were 11 PA rooms, so they needed 11 mugs of coffee. This was easily arranged, because JY was friends with the cafeteria workers and could borrow even 100 cups if she wanted. They got the cups ready to place in front of the PAs’ doors right before they go to bed.
Also, they knew that they needed to stay hidden the whole time. There were CCTVs installed in elevators and the stairs, so using the elevators and stairs in their normal clothes was out. 4 TAs who never seemed to sleep guarded the four sides of the dormitory/prison, so climbing out of the window was out. The only way was to walk right out of the main entrance.
Sophia and her roommates weren’t tall enough to be teachers or TAs, so they had to steal the navy-blue hoodies that PAs always wore. SJ, who had a talent for charming people, engaged the three PAs on their floor in a long and interesting conversation about the handsome PA that had left the camp two days before, right after they changed out of their hoodies into their pajamas. While they were talking, Sophia crept into their room, stole their hoodies, replaced them with similar-looking shirts, and snuck back out.
Easy as pie.
After that, they placed the mugs of coffee in front of all the PAs’ doors. Soon enough, they could hear snoring sounds from all the rooms. They checked all the rooms, just in case, and sure enough, the PAs were all asleep.
They pretended that everything was normal, and went back to their everyday schedule of homework, studying, work, and more homework. They went to bed and set their alarms at 5:45, for once going to sleep with a peaceful mind and hope for tomorrow.
***
Sophia’s roommate tapped her on the shoulder, waking her up from her silent recollection. She started to get to work.
First, they changed into the PA hoodies and unremarkable jeans. Then they brushed and tied their hair, washed their faces, put on lotion, and became clean enough to look like a PA.
They slipped a can of fainting spray that could make a full-grown man lose consciousness for 5 minutes into our pockets, just in case. They didn’t want to use them, but they had to be ready for cases of emergencies.
They also organized and stuffed everything they had into cardboard boxes, wrote their addresses on them, and placed them inconspicuously on the pile of packages being sent to the outer world.
They were ready.
They got into the elevator, and slowly went down, their hearts pounding.
The elevator door slid open at the first floor.
They stepped out of the elevator. The automatic double door opened, welcoming them outside.
The TA that guarded the main door was right beside the door. Sophia tried to walk as casually as she could, but her lips were getting dry, and her heart seemed ready to fly out of her chest if anything happened.
Then the TA stopped them, stepping into their way.
Her heart started to pound even faster.
He opened his mouth, and took a breath.
Then he said, “Could you lend me 500won to buy a drink? I’m really thirsty.”
Sophia sighed quietly in relief, slipped a coin out of her pocket, and handed it to the TA. He nodded thanks, and stepped out of their way.
They walked on in the dark, walking down the hill to the road outside the school. Sophia wanted to talk and laugh with JY and SJ to ease the tension, but she knew that it wasn’t the right time yet.
They gripped each other’s hands tighter as they reached the exit. They slowly walked past the statues beside the main exit...
And they were out.
They were out. They had done it.
Sophia jumped up and down with her roommates, shrieking and clapping and crying and feeling happy enough to fly at the same time. She kept yelling, "We did it! We're free! We did it!"
They walked beside the road to the faraway city, where they could see lights and cars and buildings and humans and no homework and no detention and no PAs or TAs to stop them.
They were free. Mission accomplished.

Ode to an iPhone

Dear iPhone,

You are surely the most amazing and intelligent invention mankind has ever created,
Seemingly flawless in every aspect – In size, shape, design, and all others.
The elegance of your silhouette, the sharpness of your edges, the silky touch of your screen captivates me.
Whenever I go to sleep, I dream of you until morning.
I would gladly stay up all night, picturing and praising your perfection.

When you are inside my sure fingers,
I am honored by your presence -
Your brilliant halo blinds me.
I clutch and squeeze and beg for you,
Begging for just one minute more.

Your many apps never fail to fascinate me,
Whether they are addicting games or all-knowing dictionaries or fascinating puzzles,
I lose track of time passing around me
As I explore your endless digital kingdom of wonders.

With you, I can be an angry bird
Furiously flying to sacrifice myself and destroy the enemies’ fort,
Or I can be friends with a cute talking tom, engaged in an endless conversation with each other.

With you, I can look up words I don’t know in your omniscient encyclopedia,
Learning about anything I wish to learn about.
I can educate myself in various languages,
Listening to you repeating phrases for me again and again and again.

With you, I can explore the World Wide Web to its fullest,
Pressing and scrolling and writing and cutting and pasting and searching and finding.
I can test relationships, see my fortune, read my brain, take quizzes,
Even destroy the world with just a big red button.

The possibilities are endless – the list never ends.
I feel as if I have the world in my hands with you safely by my side,
I feel myself gaining confidence whenever you are near me.

Oh iPhone, I do wish that you could be mine
It has been my constant wish, and it will stay for a long time.
Whenever I see you in shops or on TV, I long to own you, to keep you in my hands forever.
Why do you deny me the joy of your presence?
Why do you show yourself in front of my eyes, always just out of reach?
But someday, someday you will understand my passion.

And then, you will be mine.

First Person Narrative: Mission 6195

This is a story I made up about escaping from GLPS! XD

It's not that I actually want to escape, and I don't think GLPS is this bad(well, probably...:D). I just exaggerated to make the story funny.

I hope you all enjoy it!

Only a few days left!

Hey everybody! I can't believe there's only 6 days left in the whole camp! Aww ;(

Sometimes I really want to go home, but I think I'm going to miss this place a lot when I leave. I've made lots of great friends here, and most of the PAs and TAs are funny and nice (well, usually... I guess occasionally? just kidding XD). The teachers are really great, too. Learning debate is fun, skiing is fun, and history presentations are... well, never mind. :D

Still. GLPS is really fun, and I'm going to miss it a lot...

I just wanted to say I'll miss you all!!! (maybe not all, but most of you, at least...)

Isolated...

Sometimes, at this camp, I (well, not just me but others too) feel... like, seperated from the outer world.

When we look out our windows, we can't see any skyscrapers or shopping malls or CGVs. Instead, we can only see quiet little houses and farms, and mountains on every side. We always try to look far away to where there are Korean beef restaurants and lots of cars, but we never succeed.

I've lived in Seoul all my life. Seoul is a very noisy place, overflowing with cars and people and shops and PC Rooms and no-rae-bangs and everything that a city can have. Here, it's very nice and quiet. When we wake up and open our windows, we can smell winter. Winter has its own special smell, fresh and crisp, cold biting my nose. The air is still and icy, with no smell of pollution.

Most of my friends feel th same way, too. We sometimes miss playing around, mingling with crowds in the cities. Sometimes we talk about escaping. (This is usually after someone gets an EOP.) We talk about how we would sneak to the entrance, catch a taxi, hike to the cities, etc. etc. This is only for fun, though. We do like it here.

I like the quiet. I like the sweet smell of fresh soil. I like the stars that shine in the dark night. I like the crunch of snow under my boots.

I do feel isolated, but I like it.

I wish I could stay longer.

Wacky Web Tales: The Haunted Tower

Another funny WWT(Wacky Web Tale)!

Here's the link to the story: Wacky Web Tales - The Haunted Tower
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One afternoon Agent Orange and Russian Bear were walking down a(n) disgusting trail, looking for kindling for their campfire. The trees were rotten and green, and there were colorful wildflowers all around. Agent Orange and Russian Bear began to pick the wildflowers, and after a while, they danced so far that they had wandered away from the trail.

It started to get dark. Agent Orange began to get worried, but Russian Bear seemed excited to have an adventure. “Look!” Russian Bear said. “Do you see that deer? It looks like a house!”
“We're saved!” cried Agent Orange, who was relieved.
Once they got closer, Agent Orange felt very uneasy again. It didn't look like the cozy little cottage Agent Orange had been imagining, but rather a big, spooky tower! It was about 3.141597382 feet tall, and it was covered with hot pink ivy and moss. It was the creepiest thing Agent Orange had ever seen!
Agent Orange said, “Russian Bear, let's keep walking! There's no way I'm going into that tower! It looks haunted!”
“Don't be such a(n) llama! We're going in. I think it looks perfectly un-haunted!” said Russian Bear.
Agent Orange was so scared that he could not open his eyes. He felt his nose chatter as Russian Bear opened the door. All of a sudden, Agent Orange felt that he was not alone. He opened his eyes, prepared to see the worst. But instead, he saw all his friends and family inside the haunted tower! “Surprise! Happy birthday, Agent Orange!” they all kicked.

P.S. I'm sure only class 25 will be able to fully understand the humor in this story! XD
